Welcome to the Student section of the Financial Basics Foundation website!
Congratulations to Antonia from Abbotsleigh High School in NSW for coming up with the winning name for our new online game - "ESSI Money"!
Antonia wins a Sony PSP and her school gets $1000 towards financial literacy initiatives/programs/resources.
Keep an eye out - ESSI Money will be heading your way early in 2007!
This site has been designed to help you better understand money and financial management.
Why?
Well, all of us need to deal with money at some stage in our life, if we're not already. No-one can escape it! Whether it's being paid a wage or a salary, buying products or services, paying tax or saving and investing - money is an integral part of our lives. Understanding this is called Financial Literacy.
So it makes sense to try and understand as much as possible about managing your finances as soon as you can! This site will help you do exactly that. There are some great articles under the Money Tips and Tools section about issues such as buying your first car, moving out of home, using a credit card, saving, and paying HECS. The best thing about these articles are that they are written by young Australians just like you - it's information FOR students, written BY students!
If you Want More Info, then click on this section to find some great links to other websites jam-packed with information and tips. Of course, you can always Ask an Expert if you have a question you can't find the answer to.
And to make money as fun as possible, we have some cool Money Games you can play, including a savings calculator and budget planner. A new simulated Investment Game will be added later this year which could allow you to win some great prizes for yourself and your school.
